RE: Best brand of ST 235/80 R16 Tires

G614 STR are made in China? They are only rated for 62 / 65 mph ?? Now you tell me. I just put them on last fall, and they were expensive.

Another Mirror Question-Again

Does anyone out there have a 3500 CC LB Dually, and tow a fifthwheel widebody (101 inches wide), with a length of at least 36 feet. Do you have Schefenacker sideview mirrors. If so, can you see your bumper on the fifthwheel on both sides.?? This question is only for those that have the above combination. Tks in advance.

RE: NY e-zpass rant

NYS is not rv friendly, never has been, never will be. This is just one example of that. Another example is p/u truck registrations. They are all commercial for us towing fifthwheels. It just goes onl. Then NYS complains that they dont have revenue, meanwhile they chase rv ers who spend lots of money away with the outrages toll prices for the rv er. When out of staters hear what tolls are here they don t come.

RE: mor-ryde pin box adjustment?

Is it still possible to tow with the pin box situation as it is. I have the same problem with our trailer. Just noticed the same when returning home from last outing. Alot of slop in pin box that wasn t there before. We would like to take the unit to Morryde on our way to Michigan for next trip.

RE: Another Calgon question....Sorry

Calgon liquid and a cupful of dish washing soap do a really good job of keeping the tank walls clean. With the tank walls clean there is no need for holding tank chemicals. The water softener also helps with dumping the black tank, the stuff just whoooses out.

LB7 Duramax//16250 lb fifthwheel

I only want to hear from those that have this combination or close to it, and not from those that want to shoot me full of holes because of it. Have you ever towed this combination up long steep out west grades? What were the results? Did you overheat? Now I m not talking about roaring up the up at the fastest possible speed, just pulling the hills nice and easy with your foot not in it. Also were talking a stock LB7//Allison combo in a 3500 CC LB 4x4 dually I want to hear from those of you that have done this. Others need not apply

RE: ALLISON Temps whilst towing

In 70 deg temps the Allison barely gets to 150 deg towing, I m tow about 16000 lbs. At 90 deg temp the Allison runs at about 175 180 deg consistently. The only time its ever gotten really hot 205 210 deg was idling in traffic for over an hour waiting to get over the G W bridge going home to Long Island. But soon as you start moving it goes right down. The G W thing is a regular occurance. The TAP isn t awhole lot better either.

Anyone have a Sport Chassis with the Mercedes Benz engine? Any problems? Is it able to handle the long steep grades with a heavy fifthwheel? Can it be ordered with a Jake?

Pac Brake exhaust brake

Every year I need to take the module/canister portion of the PacBrake exhaust brake out of the truck. The unit looses air, and the compressor cycles on and off fairly quickly. Once out the unit is lubricated, and the little leather washer or what ever that is inside is get lubed also. This seems to correct the situation. Is that normal maintenance, or normal for the unit?, It happens every winter without fail.??????????????????

RE: RV Generators

A 5.kw propane generator requires a dedicated bottle. When you don t have propane your dead in the water. Can t run frig, hot water heater, furnace, or any other propane appliance. Propane is not always easy to get. If you have a choice get a 5.5kw gas genset, Do it while the unit is being built, other wise you will need to have a seperate aux gas tank, which can be a P I T A, because you will be carring loose gas cans. With a gas genset, although you have two different fuels, you will always have the frig, and all the other propane applicance working off the propane bottles, )probably two bottles{ It takes along time to empty two bottles using just the frig and the HW heater. If you have the money get a Platinum 5.5ks Onan gas genset. Get it built into the unit. The Platinum is fuel injected and requires a return line to the gas tank. Fuel injection doesn t require as much maintainence.

RE: Dealers not willing to negotiate

With the country tethering financial cardiac arrest. Be patient. Keep looking and dont be in a hurry. The rv industry is in the ropes. When units stop selling completely they will come around.
